After investigating the response from upstream: https://github.com/opencontainers/runtime-spec/issues/1266#issuecomment-2275200128 And following a possible solution proposed by upstream that did not work. I investigated the proposed long term solution and deduced that it wouldn't be adequate to SRU such a change when made available into libseccomp. This change will require massive changes not only to libseccomp but also to runc meaning that the regression potential is huge.
So in light of this, I have attached a patch that contains the original solution I had back ported from upstream for libseccomp, but this time I only back ported the fchmodat2 syscall and only for arm, aarch64, and powerpc platforms since it was reported by @mark-elvers that ppc64le is also affected. ** Patch added: "jammy-libseccomp-backport.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libseccomp/+bug/2059734/+attachment/5812960/+files/jammy-libseccomp-backport.debdiff ** Changed in: libseccomp (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: Incomplete => In Progress ** Changed in: libseccomp (Ubuntu Noble) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: tar (Ubuntu Noble) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2059734 Title: Tar fails to extract archives that include folders with certain permissions on armhf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libseccomp/+bug/2059734/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
