The problem is, that the GUI freezes (sometimes already in GDM, sometimes later in the desktop, for instance when I navigate in the settings app). Once the freeze happened, I'm unable to switch to a text console, because mouse input and keyboard input are no longer accepted. How can I find "the frozen process" if I'm locked out from the computer? The only way out of the freeze is power cycle. And no, it is not my hardware - kernel vmlinuz-6.5.0-45-generic works seamlessly.
The freeze doesn't happen when I manage to switch to a text console in the very early stages of the desktop start. But if I switch back to the GUI in order to provoke the freeze, the freeze happens after some seconds and I'm locked out. I cannot investigate anything after the freeze. I will try to connect to the box via ssh after the freeze. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2077265 Title: Screen freezes with kernel 6.8 (also "i915 driver attached, reenabling gpu turbo"), while kernel 6.5 still works To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-6.8/+bug/2077265/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
