Thanks, so this is an X1 I have an office full of X1s running on this dell I am using the Dell usb I have tried with a unetech cable. I will bring the laptop to the office and try on a different 4919DW. just to add info. As I said it did work with no hardware changes for about a year then after an update it stopped working ( It stopped detecting that it was a dell monitor) and stopped detecting the correct resolution
