Public bug reported: Upgrading from Ubuntu Mate 22.04 to 24.04 via "do-release-upgrade -p" removed crypt-setup (and related cryptsetup-initramfs too) while the system is using LUNKS for the root fs, rending the system not bootable.
This happened on two laptops. Luckily, the grub recovery entry from 22.04 worked on the first laptop (old kernel related initramfs was left untouched by the upgrade meaning it included crypt-setup still) and I was able to install crypt-setup + regenerate the intramfs for the new kernel used by 24.04. The same happened on the 2nd laptop only that I installed crypt-setup via "sudo apt install cryptsetup-initramfs" plus "sudo update-initramfs -u -k 6.8.0-40-generic" before reboot. I had expected crypt-setup not being removed during the upgrade.
