I have got a somewhat unstable internet connection since years. So far
it didn't caused extra problems, but since 1-2 days (I cannot tell
exactly) I have a strange and annoying experience. I can even simulate
this 100% by unplugging the ethernet cable and then plugging it back. At
the time of the 'link up' event after the link down, kworker (I assume
this is a kernel thread) starts to consume 100% of CPU, and the machine
goes so slow, that I cannot even start a program, even opening a new
terminal takes minutes. Only reboot helps (even the reboot is
problematic, I need to use sysreq keys to it "by force"), the fan of the
computer starts to spin wildly. Meanwhile in kernel log:
