Public bug reported:

My system updated from linux-image-6.8.0-38-generic to linux-
image-6.8.0-40-generic and now the graphics do not work at all. I get a
completely black screen and don't know how to proceed.

-38 still works fine (I'm using it now).

I will do the usual upstream checks, if possible, and update.
