I've tried this with the Hardy Heron Alpha2 LiveCD and the remote
control is detected (a message is shown in dmesg) and the number keys
work.

I also did a 'cat /dev/input/event6' (the input that was listed in dmesg
for the remote) and this produced output when keys on the remote were
pressed.

I haven't been able to test it with lirc.

Is there any possibility of this patch being included in an update to
2.6.22 (Gutsy)? It would be nice to be able to use the remote for the
next few months before Hardy is released.
