Linux OS is unable to decode the CXL AMEI-GHES CPER logs from BIOS due
to missing support on OS ACPI driver code. Observed with kernel 6.6

Lenovo found below CXL bug report from Intel (Birch Stream Platform
Message of the Week [MOW], WW30 2024, Reference Number: 645322), please

Lenovo suggestion is: Port/back-port the fix patch to Ubuntu 22.04.x and
24.04.x

Compute Express Link (CXL): Linux OS reports CXL Errors “Non-Standard Events” 
in Firmware First Mode

▪ Problem: Linux OS is unable to decode the CXL AMEI-GHES CPER logs from BIOS 
due to missing support on OS ACPI driver code. 
Observed with kernel 6.6 

▪ Implication: Linux OS will ignore and report the CXL CPER logs as
“nonstandard events”.

▪ Workaround: None

▪ Status: A patch was created to support the detection of CXL CPER,
approved by the upstream community and trending to intercept the
mainline on kernel 6.11-rc1.
