Any news related to this issue? If you offer a temporary solution that
skips the use of hwclock without having to change the image beforehand
it would be great.

As you probably know, when using vmwaretools you cannot install it
beforehand with the cloudimage using cloud-init, because vmware tools
needs hwclock immediately and it will error out.

In my case, I think this leads to the network interface not being
attached anymore (although the original ova template is set to "Connect
at Power On".
