Public bug reported: The recent update of libexpat1 to version 2.5.0-2ubuntu0.1 broke Paraview. In particular reading vtu files containing binary data fails since this update. When trying to open files that worked fine before, Paraview now reports a parsing error like this one:
ERROR: In vtkXMLParser.cxx, line 376 vtkXMLDataParser (0x5b0ac36fc970): Error parsing XML in stream at line 21, column 0, byte index 1036: not well-formed (invalid token) ERROR: In vtkXMLReader.cxx, line 521 vtkXMLUnstructuredGridReader (0x5b0ac3d3b670): Error parsing input file. ReadXMLInformation aborting. The problem disappears when reverting libexpat1 to version 2.5.0-2. ** Affects: expat (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: paraview (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "This file triggers the problem." https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2058415/+attachment/5757256/+files/example.vtu ** Also affects: expat (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2058415 Title: Reading binary date broken by libexpat1 update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/expat/+bug/2058415/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
