I had the same speaker problem with Realtek ALC883 Using Gutsy 2.6.22-rt kernel Added the line options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-6ch to the end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base Then i will have the switch "Headphone" and can switch speakers on/off
