I've found this most often caused in Firefox during opacity/alpha transitions. For example, the crossfading 'latest features' javascript on the Shacknews frontpage hangs my machine upteen times each week - but only as the transition starts and is on-screen (scrolling down to hide it avoids the hang). This is quite repeatable reboot-after-reboot on my system.
Similarly, pages with alpha-tested PNGs or stupid javascript popups cause the exact same crash. (Unfortunately these hangs are so severe I almost never get any output to the logs - the system crashes before it can even write anything. Only once or twice have I managed to get enough output to confirm it's the same issue. This has been happening ever since I upgraded from 7.04 to 7.10, using nVidia binary drivers, both with and without Compiz Fusion.) -- X crashes gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/140554 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
