I do wonder, though, if at some point we can start looking into sunsetting the dkms package entirely and the wireguard-linux-compat backport with it. It's been mainlined for a good deal of time now. We'd have to do some analysis of which kernels people run Ubuntu with are so old that they don't have it, and I'm not sure how exactly to perform that analysis.
