Public bug reported: The specific bug is described at https://github.com/OpenChemistry/avogadrolibs/issues/820. It breaks molecule editing completely, which compromises much of Avogadro's functionality.
The bug was recently fixed in this PR: https://github.com/OpenChemistry/avogadrolibs/pull/819. It contains a single one-liner commit, https://github.com/OpenChemistry/avogadrolibs/pull/819/commits/c47d00c821ba77ea2b13aaa933cfc922f1980469. Unfortunately, no new versions of Avogadro 2 have been released since, so the bug persists in the latest version present in the jammy/universe repository. I already sent an e-mail to the Debian maintainers team, and they decided that cherry-picking the change was the best way to proceed. Since the Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Debian Imports Freeze occurs next week, you might consider either doing the same, or waiting for the updated package to hit the Debian repos. Clarification: the bug is a 1.95.1 regression. And the fix was submitted by myself, so I can confirm it's a self-contained change. ** Affects: avogadro (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: cherry-pick -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1961519 Title: Avogadro 1.95.1 broken, proposal to cherry-pick fix To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/avogadro/+bug/1961519/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
