This is now possible using snapd's parallel installs feature¹:

    $ sudo snap set system experimental.parallel-instances=true
    $ sudo snap install firefox
    $ sudo snap install firefox firefox_esr
    $ sudo snap refresh firefox_esr --channel=esr/stable
    $ sudo snap install firefox firefox_beta
    $ sudo snap refresh firefox_beta --beta
    $ sudo snap install firefox firefox_nightly
    $ sudo snap refresh firefox_nightly --edge

    $ snap run firefox
    $ snap run firefox_esr
    $ snap run firefox_beta
    $ snap run firefox_nightly
