I attempted to reinstall tonight. This time the installation completed
without error. However, I noted that installation appeared to hang for
many minutes at 82% Configuring apt. Scanning the mirror ....

During this "hang" there seemed to be no hard disk activity or CD
activity (the lights were not on). After a while during this "hang" I
noted that there appeared to be some internet activity -- The LAN-1
light on my modem was blinking rapidly for short periods of time. I can
only presume that the installation program was accessing the internet.
Perhaps an enhancement should be that the installation progress dialog
should indicate this fact -- Some people may presume that the program
has hung and attempt to abort the process.

Another suggestion is that if the installation aborts, the installer has
the option of clicking a button which will submit relevant failure
details to a web site. This way all relevant information could be
trapped, rather than relying on a possibly inexperienced installer
sending all information you need.

Regards,

Bryan Smith
