Hello everybody.

Did some of you read this ? :
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_USB_2.0
"Symptoms include inability to connect to USB 2.0 devices at USB 2.0 speeds,
the "This device can perform faster" pop-up in Windows XP, device ID assignment
error messages from the Linux kernel, and frequent reboots of the USB bus and
connected devices."

On T40, T41 computers, the same problem occurs, even with Win XP. Some even
suggesting to try with linux before flashing bios !...
It looks highly possible that the real origin is a defective southbridge
controler, probably a model used with many motherboards.
I observed a curious randomly behaviour in the defect, believing that what I
tried the day before to solve the problem had some effect before it happens
again. This looks like an electronic problem, probably something to do with
high speed of signals with USB2.0 standard. When you come back to USB 1, it
works.
If some older kernels are using different codes to access USB 2.0, they also
could help...
Anyway this bug is a real mess for me too
