I support this "fix" because it makes sense with Ubuntu's "it just
works" goals. apt-get install i8kutils isn't terribly useful when the
configuration and auto-startup of i8k are far more onerous than its
installation.  There are a ton of Dell laptops out there that benefit
from i8k, and fan noise can be very annoying to home users (like me).

Also, I've found adding the i8kutils file alone though doesn't enable
auto-startup of i8kmon.  I know that for one thing, in /etc/modules, i8k
must be added to the list.  I can't figure out how to actually have the
i8kutils script executed on boot though.
