@vanvugt, I just had a look at the 495.44 download page as I was looking
for new driver releases, and this same fix is mentioned on the NVIDIA
driver download page:

Third from the bottom:
"Fixed a regression which prevented DisplayPort and HDMI 2.1 variable refresh 
rate (VRR) G-SYNC Compatible monitors from functioning correctly in variable 
refresh rate mode, resulting in issues such as flickering."

I guess I should try to install it using the NVIDIA installer to see if
it's still present?
