Trying to install Ubuntu 7.10 for i386, official CD from Canonical. Boot F2 Language: English F3 Keymap: Belgium Start or install Ubuntu. It takes a long time before I get the Ubuntu desktop. System > administration > Network > Wireless WEP key Hex + Automatic configuration OK The configuration does not load (as usual) Reopen Wireless Change Hex to ASCII OK Now the configuration loads (if I first use ASCII, it is the same, only... I have to change to Hex then before the configuration loads) Close Install Step 1: English Step 2: Brussels Step 3: Belgium > Belgium (no special keys) Step 4: It takes a very long time to load Step 4 window Manual Prepare partitions > using existing Home partition and a swap of 847MB I forgot to mark the root partition for formating, so I do that the second time around Step 6: The installer didn't show Step 5 window (happens very often whilst installing), so I click "Back" It takes a very, very, very long time to go back Finally back to... Step 4: Manual Prepare partitions > using existing Home partition and a swap of 847MB Step 6: The installer did again not show the Step 5 window I try to fill in my name, nothing happens for a long time. Then suddenly the window comes to life and the characters apear. I fill in the screen. Step 7: Everything seems okay. I click "Forward" The installation starts. Almost 40 minutes have passed since I boot the cd. Installing system stays a very long time at 5 % (creating ext3 for / partition) 10 minutes later: 5 % 20 minutes later: 5 % 30 minutes later: 5 % I try stopping the install clicking the "X" on the window. The window closes, but the installer keeps running. The computer does not react anymore. The only thing I still can do is moving the mouse. Clicking does nothing anymore. I hear the cd failing, the dvd burner is trying to read the disk over and over again, but as it seems: it fails to read from the disk (all the gutsy cd's have that here). At one point I tought my dvd reader/burner was to blame for that, but it is only the Gutsy cd's and dvd's that have that problem (or distro's based on Gutsy). This also happens on my other computer so... Big question here!! 1 hour after trying to install Gutsy, I reboot manually. I have no log files here.

No migration Step 6: Fill in name etc. Step 7: Everything seems akay. The installation starts 45 minutes later, the installation is finished and I press the "Restart Now" button.
