A kernel patch that fixes this issue was finally released in May 2019.
It eventually found it's way into Ubuntu 18.04 and later releases. I've
had difficulty checking if it is Ubuntu 16.04.7 or earlier update to
Ubuntu 16.04 but official support for Ubuntu 16.04 ended in April 2021.
Are you still experiencing this bug? If you are, on which version of
Ubuntu is it occurring and what is the output of "uname -a" ?
