Public bug reported: I can print over wifi to the HP Deskjet 2621
1. However, Unable to print to usb connected HP Deskjet 2621 As soon as an attempt is made to reference the printer on the usb port or print over usb, the usb port is crashed/locked The problem seems to be with usblp, ippusbxd and apparmor If usblp is blacklisted, removed and apt remove ippusbxd is performed, the printer on the usb port can be referenced or printed to successfully. However, ippusbxd is required: a. to enable modification of network settings (Advanced Network Configuration) b. when a ghost printer is selected, causes message 'Getting printer information....' in application print dialog window (more accurately - fails to communicate with usb connected printer in print dialog window) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: ubiquity (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.8.0-63.71~20.04.1-generic 5.8.18 Uname: Linux 5.8.0-63-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.18 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Tue Jul 27 09:05:23 2021 InstallCmdLine: file=/cdrom/preseed/xubuntu.seed initrd=/casper/initrd quiet splash --- maybe-ubiquity InstallationDate: Installed on 2021-07-24 (2 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 20.04.2.0 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20210209.1) SourcePackage: ubiquity Symptom: installation UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug focal ubiquity-20.04.15.10 ** Attachment added: "This screenshot shows the ghost printer in the application printer dialog window compared to actual queues displayed in 'Printers - localhost'" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1938100/+attachment/5513908/+files/Screenshot_2021-07-27_09-26-47.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1938100 Title: Unable to print to usb connected HP Deskjet 2621 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1938100/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
