hi luka, kdebase-kio-plugins is installed, but i can't be sure if that's what fixed the problem. in fact i'm not quite sure whether it's fixed, as i don't have any discs to copy at the moment nor any free space on my hard drive to do the ripping -- my external drive died 2 days ago. but i'll try to report back soon. thanks,
