Actually I'm not sure it's a symbol versioning issue now. Looking at
your error, perhaps it's a protocol negotiation issue in rsync? Either
way, it needs further investigation by a volunteer, and the rest of my
previous comment stands - I'd appreciate a fix at the origin of the
problem, and that would go into a subsequent Ubuntu release - but I
don't think it's appropriate to fix in Groovy based on the use case
presented.
