The reply was meant for a different bug report, I'm sorry for the confusion. By sheer luck I'll be able to reuse most of it here :-).
According to the logs mysql is failing to start because: [ERROR] [MY-012209] [InnoDB] Multiple files found for the same tablespace ID: [ERROR] [MY-012202] [InnoDB] Tablespace ID: 4294967278 = ['mysql_org/undo_002', 'undo_002'] [ERROR] [MY-012202] [InnoDB] Tablespace ID: 4294967279 = ['mysql_org/undo_001', 'undo_001'] [ERROR] [MY-012202] [InnoDB] Tablespace ID: 4294967294 = ['mysql.ibd', 'mysql_org/mysql.ibd'] This looks like an issue specific to your system rather than a bug in Ubuntu. You can get help for these kind of issues in the Ubuntu Community Support channels [1]. I'm marking this bug report as Incomplete for the moment. If you agree with my reasoning here please change the bug status to Invalid, otherwise please provide more details explaining why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system a change the bug status back to New, we'll look at it again. Thanks!
