Setting  /etc/modprobe.d/rtw88_pci.conf  to contain
  options rtw88_pci disable_aspm=1
seems to have worked: no freeze. To confirm the setting:
  psz@ollee:~$ grep . /sys/module/rtw88_pci/parameters/*
  /sys/module/rtw88_pci/parameters/disable_aspm:Y
  /sys/module/rtw88_pci/parameters/disable_msi:N
Still, there are the lines
  rtw_8821ce 0000:04:00.0: timed out to flush queue 2
  rtw_8821ce 0000:04:00.0: firmware failed to leave lps state
in dmesg (to attach in next comment), and I wonder whether those
indicate some issue that should (also?) be fixed.
