Public bug reported:
OS: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS Kernel: Linux 5.4.0-66-generic (X86_64) Version: #74-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 27 22:54:38 UTC 2021 -Display- Resolution : 3840x2160 pixels Vendor : The X.Org Foundation Version : 1.20.9 Current Display Name : :0 -Monitors- Monitor 0 : 3840x2160 pixels Renderer : Mesa Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 (KBL GT2) Version : 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 20.2.6 Direct Rendering : Yes -Memory- MemTotal Total Memory 16143780 KiB MemFree Free Memory 4441688 KiB After installing the latest Ubuntu kernel update, the screen of my HP Spectre laptop began flickering into distorted illegibility at frequent -- but unpredictable -- intervals. The machine is unusable when this occurs. Additionally, GIMP has begun crashing unpredictably. I have rebooted many times. I have changed the display drivers (currently using the X.org driver). None of this has affected the problem. I have searched online for possible fixes, and found nothing useful. HP's "support" is useless, since they only deal with Windows. StackExchange referred me to this site. I hope I have reported correctly. Thank you. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916778 Title: After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1916778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
