It appears that Webex themselves do support various distros with their more recent offerings: "we have supported various flavours of Linux for several years now and the Desktop Sharing function is available to presenters on Linux. The currently supported Linux distributions are Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, SuSE Linux 10 and Ubuntu Linux 6.10/7.04. Firefox 2.0 or Mozilla 1.7.13 with JVM 1.5 or later is required on the browser side."
It is the resellers of their solution who have not upgraded to these versions that are the blocker: The incentive to update their web conferencing solution comes from customer demand - not enough customers are demanding support for desktops other than Windows. Conclusion: The OS itself is not the limiting factor - and therefore this bug/enhancement can be closed. It is really a side affect of Bug #1, not a bug in its own right. -- No available method to perform web conference desktop sharing - impossible to use web conferencing to promote Ubuntu Desktop without using another OS that supports desktop sharing for web presentations https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176021 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
