I just found that I'm actually on a testing kernel instead of generic :

 dpkg --list | grep linux-image
ii linux-image-unsigned-5.0.0-37-generic 5.0.0-37.41+redmiv3
amd64 Linux kernel image for version 5.0.0 on 64 bit x86
SMP

This was to fix the issue I raised before:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1846148

However the wireless also had problem with wireless but I didn't keep track of
that bug.
I guess the fix for both the linked issue and wireless are in this test kernel
that I'm using.
