Public bug reported: I am concerned that the source being used for this driver is extremely dated. This came to my attention due to reports in wifi related forums. I have a Github site where I maintain a much more modern driver for the rtl8812au chipet. The driver is based on the Realtek source version 5.9.3.2 dated (2020-10-12). This version of the driver is only for the rtl8812au chipset. There is another driver for the rtl8821au/8811au. Both drivers in their maintained form can be found here.
https://github.com/morrownr I am willing to assist the current maintainer in getting the new code into this package... actually we would need to add a new package to continue supporting the rtl8821au/8811au. My testing has shown this v5.9.3.2 rtl8812au driver to be the best driver I've ever seen out of Realtek. It is very good in station mode and outstanding in AP mode. Power saving just works and the log is clean.
