The following procedure worked for me - so not a bug. Probably the
vendor changing their ID so prompting a force load of the module.
That fact that it's an intel mobo threw me, since this series of
commands is mainly for AMD folk.
 sudo echo "options nct6683 force=1" >> /etc/modprobe.d/sensors.conf
 sudo shutdown -r now
 sudo modprobe nct6683
 sudo echo "nct6683" >> /etc/modules-load.d/modules.conf
