Here what I've done: 1. enabled the proposed repository 2. updated gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons to version 20.04.0+git20200908-5~ubuntu20.10.0 3. Test case: created a file in the desktop and tried drag & drop inside an open folder. As expected drag & drop doesn't work, but now the shell doesn't freeze.
