Well it seems to have worked now. The following sequence fixed the problem sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade --fix-missing <This failed to upgrade Linux-firmware sudo shutdown -r now sudo apt-get -y upgrade --fix-missing <This succeed in upgrading Linux-firmware
