I can add another "me too" on a Asus K73SV laptop with NVIDIA GeForce GT
540M. With "Install updates during install" and "Install third party
drivers" checked I got the error which redirected me here. When I
rebooted I was greeted with a black boot screen that not made it into
GDM.

After installing again but this time without "Install third party
drivers" checked the installation worked normally. Immediately was
greeted with updates to install, though I had "Install updates during
install" still checked.

I am very disappointed, especially since this issue has been known for
over 8 months. This is the reason I wait some time before installing the
new LTS. This should have been fixed in 20.04.1 already.
