A UEFI partition seems to be a requirement when installing 20.10. Create a 50 to 100 Megabyte partition using Gparted and flag it as boot and esp. Then select this partition and change it to EFI System Partition. Finally select a root partition and perhaps a data or home partition. I installed grub to /dev/sda.
