Hello and thanks for your bug report. The main error here seems to be: [ERROR] [MY-010262] [Server] Can't start server: Bind on TCP/IP port: Address already in use
which is likely to be caused by a instance of mysqld not running under control of the service init system (systemd). Killing it (or restarting the system) should solve the problem and let the upgrade finish successfully. In order to tell if this problem is actually a bug and not a problem specific to your system we need to understand how the "stray" mysqld was started. If you tried to manually start the daemon by calling `mysqld` instead of using systemctl (or one of its wrappers) then that's the reason. Could you please let us know if that's the case? Waiting for your reply I'm setting the status of this bug report to Incomplete. Please change it back to New after commenting back and we'll look at it again. Thanks! ** Changed in: mysql-8.0 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1901956 Title: package mysql-server-8.0 8.0.22-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 failed to install/upgrade: installed mysql-server-8.0 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-8.0/+bug/1901956/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
