I2C bus basically means VESA DDC. If I understand, VESA DDC was originally for analog VGA monitors. The protocol used for VESA DDC is I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit), hence, I use the term "I2C bus." DVI and some FPs (Flat Panel) also use I2C bus for configuration purposes.
