Hi, As explained by Robie, Lars and me in the comments above this is not a bug, but an intentional bump in the OpenSSL minimal protocol requirements for secure connections. For this reason I marked the mysql-8.0 task as Invalid.
We understand there are cases where a downgrade may be necessary, for those hopefully rare cases the askubuntu answer linked by Christian Gutierrez or the very similar workaround proposed by Rafael in comment #27 are valid, but the real path forward is upgrade the outdated servers. I'm leaving the Release Notes task open, as this should definitely be better documented. ** Changed in: mysql-8.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872541 Title: MySQL client fails to connect, seems to force SSL To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/1872541/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
