The notification wakes my external monitor only to present itself then suspends the laptop leaving the monitor to restart it's 30 min. turn off cycle. My monitor is set to go black as I set in gnome-settings, then turn of after 30 min set on the monitor itself. I might word that better. The external monitor goes black on inactivity and is on it's way to sleep only to be waken up by the suspend notification.
