It is really not within my power to get a shell or gui without acpi=off. Following your suggestion, I provoked such a failed boot by temporarily removing acpi=off from the boot parameters. Afterwards I ran "journalctl -b -1" to get the logs of that failed attempt. For your reference, I attached them to this comment.
