Hello Stefan and thanks for this bug report. I found a Samba upstream
bug about this, however the bug received no comments and it seems to me
that the change has been introduced on purpose [2,3].

Comment 17 of the RedHat bug you linked [4] mentions a fix, but I
couldn't find a patch or a repository where to check what kind of change
they implemented.

I am not sure on what the best way forward is here.
