** Description changed: I have a laptop Gateway 4256MX sold in México. I've installed version 7.6 and recently update to 7.10 but never can get any sound. The sound card appears to be a 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller, (as is listed in the Device Administrator). I say there is no sound because audio and video files just seems to be working fine in Rythmbox and Totem. In the beginning, I though there was just the codecs for Rythmbox to play MP3, but after downloading them, Rythmbox plays the files whit no complain, but there's no sound. Neither system sounds work. + I though this problem will be fixed with the version update, but it didn't happen. I'd really appreciate your time and help, it's the only thing I need to leave Windows definitely and change to Ubuntu.
