The Bug has apparently been fixed as of 12/5/07 with an update to the Repository. Wooohooo. I don't think it affects machines that don't have internet in the first place because I think it has something to do with some unknown package installed after the initial system is installed, because the bug is absent whenever I use a clean copy of Gutsy with no updates or extra driver installs. Please check this fix.
