I have found the same problem. If I enable compiz, the notes dissappear left-clicking in the desktop but if I disable compiz again, the bad behaviour returns. Cannot have correct perfomance if compiz is disabled (this is different from what was told above). The problem has appeared when uprading to 7.10, as told by the first reporter.
