Thanks. Assuming the steps in comment #6 were followed then that shows the kernel could not detect the DVD drive being connected at all:
May 08 14:32:07 josef-ThinkPad-T510 kernel: ata2: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) Please try again booting with the drive connected and leave it for one hour. Does the system eventually finish booting? Separately, please also try disconnecting the drive while it is stuck and tell us if that allows the system to finish booting. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1877388 Title: If DVD drive is present system very often fails to start-up To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1877388/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
