Short package description: set of C++ libraries and applications for
mobile robotics algorithms, computer vision, and autonomous navigation.
It is mentioned in 500+ scientific works [1], and the last version
shipped with Ubuntu Eoan is 2+ years old (3 missed releases).

Please, consider importing the latest stable release of this package into
Ubuntu 20.04
I know the Debian import freeze has passed, but we've been working really
hard towards this new major release of the library, and couldn't make it before
that date.

The new version 2.0.0 is right now sitting in Debian mentors but will
probably take a while to get into Debian unstable due a problem in its
current version of one dependency (libopencv-dev), which is not
  installable.

MRPT 2.0.0 is ensured to build in the current version of 20.04 Focal, as
tested in this PPA:
  https://launchpad.net/~joseluisblancoc/+archive/ubuntu/mrpt/+packages

so in theory it shouldn't be problematic to update the version that currently
exists in Ubuntu:
  https://packages.ubuntu.com/source/eoan/mrpt
which is actually quite old (2+ years).

Any further question of doubt you might have, feel free of writing me!

  Thanks for your time.

  Best,
  Jose Luis
