I tried also version 1.00.18 with and without patch. (click on "read more ..."
to see test result till the end.
Patch version is worse because it even don't start:
Dec 1 17:03:46 rgm kernel: [13097.504000]
/home/rene/C/gspcav1-20070508.patch/gspca_core.c: gspca driver 01.00.18
registered
Dec 1 17:04:54 rgm kernel: [13164.992000]
/home/rene/C/gspcav1-20070508.patch/gspca_core.c: [spca5xx_open:1940] DEALLOC
error on spca50x_init_source

Without patch , it looks like a memory corruption, and something going
into infinite loop.

Webcam is the only usb device:

I am trying now camorama. The image is blue, contrast and brightness only works.
Color, Hue and White balance are not working.
Final result is same: after a (very) few minutes, camorama freezes.

I also tried my second USB port (also on BUS 001): same result
