There was an off by one error in the patch backported to 5.4.0-16.19 (same with my the test kernel). For those who wants to test it, please try the latest kernel from the unstable ppa (5.4.0-17.21): https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/unstable/+packages
