BTW, when I first reported this bug, in 2013, the web page (referenced in step 1) contained only png images.
Today, it contains webp images exclusively: http://www.amorosity.com/SlingBlade/ All modern web browsers support webp images: https://developers.google.com/speed/webp However, Libre Office doesn't support webp. Despite this lack of webp support, it is not the cause of the bug being reported here.
