Is this solved at all? As of today, I still see some pdf files -but not others (how to tell the difference?) rendering improperly in evince. When the text is selected, the text is suddenly smooth and nice; when deselected, it's all sketchy and rough.
Also, many equations and punctuation chars disappear when selecting text (an entirely different bug, I assume). None of the above exist in kpdf.
